He seems the incarnation of everything soft and silky and velvety, without a sharp edge in his composition, a dreamer whose philosophy is sleep and let sleep.

A little about us and a little about the British Shorthair

We are a small home based Cattery situated in beautiful Central Victoria After Breeding Standard Poodles under the prefix Litlbasi we have recently embarked on a new adventure, showing and breeding British Shorthair Cats.

We are registered breeders and members of CAV .

We are planning to start breeding the beautiful Tipped BSH and will be importing some

lovely new Tipped lines in the new season.

All kittens produced from these lines will be strictly sold as pets, and will be desexed prior

to leaving Bonibrits, No Exceptions.

We test for Polycytic kidney disease PKD, Blood Type, Paternity identity

(parentage verification), Identity fingerprint on all of our cats prior to a mating.

We do these tests to avoid heartache in the future for both Bonibrits and our new kitty owners, we advise all cat buyers to purchase  from registered breeders that do health

testing on all of their cats prior to breeding as kidney disease is one of the most common causes of death in felines. Our kittens are raised in our home underfoot in a loving family environment, accustomed to normal household activities and other animals, to ensure happy, healthy, well adjusted and well socialized kittens.

Colors we are breeding, Blue, Lilac, Silver Tabby, Black & Chocolate and Color Points.

All kittens will be desexed prior to leaving us at 12 weeks unless going as a breeder, a non refundable deposit of $200.00 is required in order for us to hold a kitten. We reserve the

right to refuse to sell a kitten to any persons we deem unsuitable owners. Preference will

be given to owners that keep a cat indoors or in an outdoor enclosure.

About the British

The British Shorthair is a stocky pure breed that resembles a plush Teddy Bear, their coats are often

described as crisp or crackling, which refers to the way the coat breaks over the cats body contours.

Although blue is the color most associated with the breed, they can be found in many colors and patterns.

This sturdy and independent breed is best described as good natured, calm, loyal, dignified and

affectionate. One claim of the British Shorthair origin was that it was bred for the first time in the 19th

century in an attempt to make a beautiful cat out of an alley cat and a domestic cat. The result was a British Shorthair named Brite, who was presented to the public in 1871 with wide spread approval, winning Best in Show at Crystal Palace of London.

Another claim indicates that the breeds ancestors traces back to domestic cats in Egypt and Rome.

Under this claim it is believed that the British Shorthair arrived to Britain after the 2nd century AD,

when the Roman Empire spread to Britain.

Famous British Shorthair

Writer Lewis Carol and illustrator Sir John Tenniel chose the breed for the model for the Cheshire Cat in,

The Adventures of Alice in Wonderland.

A British Shorthair Silver Tabby is the face of Whiska's, a British Blue is the face of Sheba  cat food.

In Terry Pratchett's Discworld Humor/Fantasy Novels, the Lancre witch nanny Oggs' cat Greebo also known as the Terror of the Ramptops is a British Blue. The breed has also become a favorite of animal trainers because of it's nature and intelligence.
